Zombieland (2009)

Even though zombie films are as common as dirt most are independent schlock-fests that blow chunks harder than a shit-faced sorority sister on her 21st birthday. You can understand my excitement for the opportunity to catch a big budget zombie flick with recognizable actors at the local Cineplex. Luckily Zombieland doesn’t disappoint.

Re-Animator (1985)

I’ve watched Re-Animator so many times I’ve lost count. To me, a finely crafted 80s horror film ages like fine wine and this particular brand of hooch is impeccably mouth-watering 25 years after it’s initial corking.

The Rage (2007)

At a glance, The Rage looks like a straightforward splatterfest. It takes the well worn formula of a scientific madman and adds a raged out zombie twist to it. With special effects guru, Robert Kurtzman directing you figure its going to be a bloody good time. Right?

Return of the Living Dead (1985)

George Romero concocted the foundation and rules for zombie flicks. Dan O’Bannon was one of the first motherfuckers crazy enough to find the funny in the undead. Lately, the zombie trend is to eschew horror for crass humor and gory sight gags. Since the success of Shaun of the Dead we’ve been enduring one “Zom-Com” after another.
